I’ll have to weigh it, but it feels slightly lighter than a Kindle 4 and it’s smaller, but thicker. One thing that might make it less ideal for hiking is that its screen doesn’t light up, so you’d need like a headlamp to read at night. (also still working on battery life numbers)
