was cursing at my soldering iron last week when I bridged two pins making a simple board with some buttons (left). Realized for less than the cost of a new protoboard, I could make a custom PCB at @oshpark. Designed it on Friday; 8 days later it’s here and in my project. Amazing.

[4/4] Maybe I have narrative whiplash from rewatching the whole series recently. Maybe it’s just a matter of taste. But for me, more fireside chats and long rides up the Kingsroad would’ve made last night’s brilliant #GOT feel more like an exclamation point and less like a comma.

[3/4] Instead, we rush to a thrilling conclusion. Why? It feels cheap to dispense with ten years of dramatic tension in three episodes, I don’t care how epic the battle sequence was. And don’t get me wrong: it was epic, and paid off in all the right ways. But this quickly? idk.

[2/4] I imagine GRRM could have written a whole book on this four-episode arc, following all of these characters as they made their way by land and by sea to the final stand at Winterfell. Then one final volume where we return to King’s Landing to resolve the Game of Thrones.

without getting too far into spoilers, I have to say I have OPINIONS about last nights #GOT. Mostly frustration. It should have been a finale, not the halfway point of an already short season. That “Up Next” montage? Should have been the S9 teaser, dropping what, this fall? [1/4]

PaintCode might not get you all the way to the finish line; some gradients and blend modes you may have to hand code, plus your logic for what to display, but it’ll get you 90% of the way there. Even the main calendar view in Better Day has its roots in a PaintCode canvas :)

They’re nothing special; calendar images are basically like the two-part images I generate for the watch app; text ones are just NSAttributedStrings in UILabels. Most interesting might be the Infograph gauge; I implemented a replica with the help of @PixelCutCompany’s PaintCode.

Among my side projects: Vote For The Democrat, stickers and a site about the election. Spent some time today adding new candidates @joebiden, @sethmoulton, @timryan and @ericswalwell. May one of them win in 2020. Or one of the others. Whichever, really. https://www.voteforthedemocrat.org

it’s disheartening to already see negativity in my timeline about the democratic candidates for president. did we not learn from last time?

Having trouble figuring out what to tweet about. I’ll try the old “what are you doing” formula and then delete because it feels like it doesn’t fit the modern stream. Tried political snark, but my heart isn’t in it. News is sad. World is burning. What’s there to say anymore?

so he still gets to be president right?

yo! it’s been a minute. Thinking about getting back on twitter. Actually… *checks timeline*… it’s been three years. Huh. What did I miss?
