The Stargazer. For folks who think space is the place!
• Clock
• Astronomy (Calculates altitude, azimuth, right ascension and declination for all planets)
• Sunrise/Sunset
• Moon Phase
a TODO item is making the LED a dim red by default on this firmware

“The Backpacker” is designed for hiking and camping:
• Clock
• Sunrise/Sunset
• Moon Phase
• Temperature
• 36-hour Temperature Log, for tracking overnight low temps.
• Blinky Light. It’ll chew through your battery, but could be useful in a pinch.

Next up, three versions designed for people. “The Athlete” is for folks who want to use Sensor Watch for fitness. Its watch faces:
• Clock
• Stopwatch
• Countdown
• Exercise Counter (by Shogo Okamoto)
• Pulsometer
Again, each of these has a demo page: https://joeycastillo.github.io/Sensor-Watch-Documentation/firmware/simulate/the_athlete/(original)

Next: Focus. For folks who want to get productive. @tahnok’s watch faces feature prominently here:
• Clock
• Tomato Timer (productivity timer varietal)
• Stopwatch
• Countdown Timer
Choosing different watch faces makes for a radically different device! https://joeycastillo.github.io/Sensor-Watch-Documentation/firmware/simulate/focus/(original)

First up, Movement Standard. The base firmware has these watch faces:
• Clock
• World Clock
• Sunrise/Sunset
• Moon Phase
• Temperature
I like to say that this one is packed but not jam-packed; I feel it has something for everyone. Test drive it here: https://joeycastillo.github.io/Sensor-Watch-Documentation/firmware/simulate/standard/(original)
In advance of the first Sensor Watch boards shipping, progress on what I like to call “Alternative Firmware.” Since flashing new code onto Sensor Watch is as easy as dragging a UF2 file, I’ve made 7 prebuilt firmware images for various use cases. A thread! https://joeycastillo.github.io/Sensor-Watch-Documentation/firmware/prebuilt.html

remember when I said “all software is bad”? well my build script now includes a step titled “Work around CVE-2022-24765”, so, yeah. Just saying.

the README says “coming soon”, but that’s admittedly a hopeful estimate; samples of the transflective display are delayed to late May, and once I validate them there’ll be a little bit of lead time for a final order. But I can at least imagine having these on Tindie by midsummer!

teh codes. The examples folder also includes a basic clock, seen here with a flashing colon. I designed it so you can update all the indicators by sending just 2 bytes over the I²C bus; a little energy saving trick for your battery powered applications :) https://github.com/joeycastillo/OSO_CircuitPython_LCD

worked from bed today and got a first version of the LCD FeatherWing driver published. Also made some antibodies I hope! So far I have a “lite” driver aimed at space constrained (i.e. non-Express) devices; here’s counting from -15000 to 15000 with a decimal point floating around.

I mean I can attest that Moderna is working on one specific to Omicron! It isn’t approved for general use yet, but if it is, I get to say I helped :)

I should ask! I’ll look forward to an answer with interest.

In this case the control group was also getting a booster; it was just a question of whether I was going to get a regular Moderna booster, the new Omicron one under study, or a two-shot series. But it’s an unblinded study, so they told me which one I got.

(the other arm isn’t actually that sore tbh; they just had to withdraw a lot of blood, y’know, for science)

I didn’t realize I’d be flying the unmasked skies this weekend, but it does make me feel much better about having signed up for a vaccine trial. Who’s got two sore arms and one experimental Omicron booster? This guy.

Not an unfair point (tho the code is pretty clean so far; one file for the I²C driver and one for the display glass). My thought is, if I’m doing my job right, someone should be able to cut and paste code for an Adafruit segment LED display and have it work on this segment LCD :)

behold, the full source code of this demo:
import board
from oso_lcd.lcdwing import LCDWing
display = LCDWing(board.I2C())
display.marquee(“Oddly Specific Objects “, delay=0.15)(original)
Progress today! Thanks to the 7-day turnaround time of @oshpark’s Super Swift service, I have a fixed version of the LCD wing and a driver based on @Adafruit’s HT16K33 segment LED library. This should make it feel familiar, and gives it this cool marquee feature out of the box 😃

The maddening thing is I can’t reply to say I think the order was fraudulent (it’s a noreply address), and it’s not like they bothered to confirm the email which _should_ make it worthless as a data point. Still it feels like this is the scam; I’m just not sure how to counter it.

I may have found the needle in the haystack? Or not? Amid all the mailing list signups last night, someone used my email to order four Samsung Galaxy phones using financing. They’re shipping to another Jose Castillo in Texas. Is this a scam to try to get me on the hook for them?

599 mailing list signups in the last seven hours. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. Whoever’s done this has killed my ability to use the Gmail address I’ve had for more than half my life. Well done, I hate you.

interesting. Like, a hacker is trying to compromise an account somewhere, and they flood the target’s inbox in the hopes they won’t notice any warning about it that comes in? Devious.

wow. Someone seems to have plugged my email address into a script or something that’s subscribing me to dozens of mailing lists. Three dozen in ten minutes. Is this like an attack, is there a name for this sort of thing? And am I just going to have to burn this email address?
